Live in the present, remember the past, and fear not the future, for it doesn't exist and never shall. Fifteen-year-old Eragon believes that he is merely a poor farm boy—until his destiny as a Dragon Rider is revealed. Gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire. As one of my all time favorites, I would recommend the first book in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle in a heartbeat. Filled with thrilling adventure, suspense, and magical creatures, Eragon is a book to be read and enjoyed time and again. Paolini's mastery of language and description brings his world to life before your very eyes. Review by Marleigh Thorn |
